  • Why do I need to provide additional information regarding my card application?

    To ensure we can successfully finalize your application we require additional information to meet the required government regulations and/or our internal policies.   • How can I access this site?

    To protect you as a customer, you will be required to complete the ID authentication process. Please input your application reference number, postal code & your date of birth at main login page. Upon successful validation you will be granted access to the Application Information Update Center.

  • Where can I find the Application reference number?

    The application reference number has been provided on the Thank you page when you submitted your application online. It can also be found in the email follow up communications sent to you by American Express upon submission of your application.

  • Why do I need to complete additional ID Verifications?

    Canada government regulations require us to perform extensive identity validation on each of card applicant as part of the application review process. More information about these requirements can be found at the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) website.

  • What is the Bank Consent form?

    The Bank consent form is a document that, once signed by you, allows us to contact your financial institution on your behalf to obtain information to establish your identity. A Bank deposit confirmation is one of the government approved ID verification methods used to establish your identity and is used by American Express in assisting us in finalizing an application on your behalf.

  • What are the required income verification documents for my Personal Card application?

    As part of our application review process we would like to request additional documentations to verify your income. Please provide any one of the following (clear and complete copy):
    • 3 most recent paystubs OR
    • 3 most recent bank statements OR
    • 2 most recent Notices of Assessment OR
    • 2 most recent T4 forms

  • Are there other ways to send in my documents?

    Online submission will further assist us to expedite the application review process. Alternatively, you may also submit your documents via mail or fax. Please remember to indicate the application reference number on all your documents. Please send all required documents to:

  • What is the maximum file size allowed for document upload?

    The maximum size for a single file is 10MB. The maximum size for a submission is 30MB. Please note that larger files will take longer to upload depending on your connection.

  • How can I reduce the size of the file I am uploading?

    You can upload files up to 10MB in size. To reduce the size of the documents, you can use these techniques:
    1. Scan or create the file in grayscale instead of color.
    2. Reduce the dots per inch (dpi) of a scanned image. 200 dpi is sufficient for all but very tiny text.

  • What file types can be uploaded?

    The following file types can be uploaded: BMP, GIF, JPEG, JPG, PDF, PNG and TIF. Please make sure files are saved with the correct file extension.

  • What if I need technical assistance uploading the documents?

    The answers to most common questions can be found within these FAQs. Please read them carefully in order to quickly resolve any issues you may encounter.   • How can I ensure my files reach American Express?

    Please be sure to click the ‘Exit’ or ‘Next’ button after attaching all your files. You will be directed to a confirmation page once files are uploaded successfully. Files that are not submitted will be lost upon closing the browser window and you will have to upload any file(s) again.

  • Do I have to provide my information online?

    Although this process is the fastest yet most secure method to obtain and process the required information at your convenient time, it is not the only method available to you. We are more than happy to obtain the information over the phone or by fax.
